Show Recap: August 22nd, 2025
The heroes unite to confront Vernin and the Devourer possessing him.

Evading their lookouts and sending Nyra off to give an update to Yellarus, Jasper and Emmit entered into Vernin's manor in search of Mr. Jingles, finding evidence of a poisoned drink. As they attempted to leave, they were captured by city guards and taken to a nearby jail. There, a human tracker named Galsune questioned them about a stolen pony. Meanwhile, Mr. Jingles awoke in the lower chambers of the Tranquil Path Monastery (formerly the House of Gloam) where Vernin paraded him on chains to peruse the grounds where the Night of Agony party was soon to be held. As Vernin was explaining a ritual that would awaken the Devourer within him and convert Mr. Jingles to his cause, Mr. Jingles bit off and swallowed one of Vernin's fingers.

Having departed from the group several days prior, Zera completed her training with the retired paladin Bogrim and devoted herself to Milil, the Lord of Song. Sensing her friends were in danger, Zera returned to Scardale on the day of the party and arrived in disguise, finding Yellarus within the crowd. Yellarus updated Zera on the whereabouts of her friends, noting she had discovered that Vernin had recently acquired a large amount of poisonous mushrooms. While Zera proceeded into the depths of the monastery, Yellarus left to recruit additional help and arrange for Jasper and Emmit to be released on bail into her custody whereupon they ventured to the party to help their friends.

Zera, having successfully infiltrated the inner sanctum of the monastery as a disguised monk, observed as Vernin tied up Mr. Jingles and orchestrated the commencement of a horrible ritual that would result in the deaths of nearly every Night of Agony partygoer. Zera promptly interrupted the ritual and battled the monks as Vernin summoned Thorn. As these events were underway, Yellarus had arrived at the party with reinforcements and created a distraction—despite many at the party already experiencing hallucinations from being poisoned en masse—allowing Jasper and Emmit to join Zera and Mr. Jingles below.

Reconnected, the four heroes battled Thorn and Vernin, empowered by the Devourer within him. As Vernin sustained various wounds, the Devourer began to emerge. Despite several near-death encounters during the fight, the heroes prevailed, defeating Thorn then uniting as a single force to slay Vernin and the Devourer. Upon its death, spirits emerged from the Devourer, including Emmit's wife and son; to Jasper's relief, the markings of Iyachtu Xvim faded from Vernin's eyes, signaling a small victory against the son of Bane; Mr. Jingles cried in relief, finally free of a painful remnant of his past; and as the chorus of liberated souls gave their thanks, Zera felt a sense of calm knowing the ill omens against her had been abated, for now. With the ritual halted, Galadrathril was released from the stockades, peace and order was restored to the party, and the day was won.
