Shortly after arriving within the mystical and emotion-infused realm of the Feywild, the heroes encountered a blink dog that ran off with Saltair's staff. Following the playful creature's trail led to a redhaired satyr named Nevri and Willowwood the treant. Nevri guided the party to a community of fey called Tanglebrook. There, Nevri introduced them to an eladrin named Arco, who agreed to help the heroes find their families.

At Aeraelle's request, Arco first escorted the party to an experienced bloodhunter named Joruvir who was located in a hut within the Feydark underworld. Using Aeraelle's tuning fork as a focus, Joruvir conducted a psychometric ritual that revealed the face of Aeraelle's mother and the name "Sparks." However, the vision also showed Aeraelle's creators being sucked into a portal by a banshee moments before their magical attempts to imbue a doll with sentience failed in a tremendous explosion.

Continuing deeper into the cold depths of the Feydark, the heroes located Saltair's wayward sheep, which were guarded by a dragon. Dream-Eater, the fey who gave Saltair his druidic powers, appeared before them. With the head of an elephant, the body of a bear, the paws of a tiger, and the tail of a cow, Dream-Eater asked Saltair what he would be willing to sacrifice to recover his sheep before revealing that they had already been traded away to the dragon. To get them back, Saltair would need to make a new bargain.
